Good news!

You can get your money back!

The day after I lost my money on a scam, I went to the police with the card of the tea shop ("Shanghai Zhu Qing Tea House", address: Hankoulu 639, tel:021-63513859). The address of the police station is "Guizhoulu 85", it's in a side stree of West Nanjing Road (see the map below)

http://ditu.google.cn/maps?f=q&hl=zh-CN&geocode=&q=%E4%B8%8A%E6%B5%B7%E5%B8%82%E9%BB%84%E6%B5%A6%E5%8C%BA%E8%B4%B5%E5%B7%9E%E8%B7%AF85&sll=31.224353,121.475916&sspn=0.132409,0.268135&ie=UTF8&ll=31.236454,121.476603&spn=0.008275,0.016758&z=16&iwloc=addr

The police called a guy of the tea house (probably the shop keeper). As I had no receit he asked me how much I paid him and I answered 900RMB. Then he said as I have drunk some cups of tea he will give me back 600RMB. I said 850RMB. He said 800RMB. I said 850RMB. He said 840RMB. I said OK. He gave me the money and I wrote a receit for him.

It was surprising smooth and easy. However, if you don't speak Chinese it may take a little bit more time (most of the police officers don't speak English).

By the way, all this happened in the police station! The scam nearly seems to be a legal business in Shanghai...

Cheers
