Osaka bullion dealer

Tanaka Kikinzoku, a large Japanese bullion dealer has a shop in Shinsaibashi, Osaka. Bought some Canadian Maple Leaf rounds there in late July 2008. Beware.
The shop is very professsional in appearance and seems like an upfront established legit business yet amazingly, they still resort to Yakuza-like schemes to stick it to their customers.
In my case, I completed a careful inspection of the bullion coins, made my selection and paid. The "nice" lady then picked up the tray holding the coins preparing to bag them. The tray was briefly pulled from my sight just long enough for a very fast switcharoo to be made with one of the coins. She then smoothly bagged the coins and sealed the bag. I was a little too trusting as I ignored that little voice in my head screaming "this does not look right." Sure enough I got home and found in the bag a quite inferior piece with a hugely obvious flaw. There was no way this slipped my inspection. I estimate this cost me about 10,000 yen given the lower bid I'll receive if I try to sell it back to them - assuming they are willing to buy it back at all.
Never ignore that inner voice. Never let them take the product out of your sight for even a second.
They have a website at,
